(Sandhill Crane) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico

I reworked the image to be cropped as suggested. Since the original was an early conversion, it has the slightly green tint that all my early conversions had. For the new crop, I reworked the image from the beginning, including trying to remove the color cast issue. It is interesting to see these together but the reason I'm doing this now is because of how off color my skies were.

I'm now into month two of my one month long series of images from my two weeks at Bosque. My intent is to make the images flow as though they all occurred during a single day. Of course, they occurred during the two weeks I was there. :)

This is the 29th post of the series. The time is now 8:24 am.

Sandy, if you're wondering what you've missed, this is the 20th series post since you were gone. In that post, it was 7:09 am. So, an hour and 15 minutes has past since you last commented on one. That was over a month ago, so I really need to start moving this series along.

The original of this image just cut off the feet. (about in half) Since I didn't get everything and the bottom was a little tight, I decided to crop a bit tighter so it looked intentional.

Tripod/Wimberley Mounted Nikon D2H, 600mm AFS, TC-20EII, (1200mm), ISO 200, Manual, 1/80 @ F22.0. Cropped about 10% from the left and top.

Thanks for the timeline, Tony. I needed that to orient myself in four dimensional space-time. I love the image. Cutting off the legs completely and having a bit more space in front might also have worked. Good to be back.

Nicely done; love the sharp eye and head coupled with the wing blur. I'm with Sandy on the crop suggestion. The sharp feet are a bit of a distraction and more space in front would work for me.

Make that three for Sandy's crop suggestion. I love the sharp head contrasted by the motion blur everywhere else in the frame.

I like the tones in this image. The sharp head makes it work.

Once Sandy's said it, not much more needs to be said. :D

I think the crop suggestion would strengthen the image, but it's not bad as is.

The sharp head and blurred wings work well for me.

I reposted with the suggested crop. Better? Worse? Same?

Tony:

I like better the cropped image, you are getting very good with your pan blurs.
