Born in 1958 in New York City, I have always stayed busy with a variety of hobbies. I've played piano and violin, sang in a Barbershop quartet, played tuba, taken silent movies and learned photography with a 35mm range finder. I have interests in board gaming (war gaming), space travel, science fiction (trekker) and astronomy.
I've chased Solar Eclipses since the 80's and have always attempted to photograph or video them. This lead to a rather embarrassing over sight during a trip to Mexico, I forgot to look at the eclipse through my binoculars while it was in totality. Everyone else did that day, but I was so busy, simply forgot to look.
I started to collect digital cameras in the late 90's and purchased a D1 used right before a planned 2001 trip to Zambia, Africa for a Total Eclipse. I took a 80-400 VR with my on that trip with a 2x converter. It was my most successful eclipse trip to date but also started my interest in nature photography since I came home with some stunning images of Elephants.
Since that trip, I've added a few (long) lenses and I've upgraded my camera several times. I'm sure I'll get some stunning images of the next eclipse I get to.
