Hello,

This is my first post as a new member. I've been lurking since I discovered this terrific site two weeks ago. Any feedback appreciated.

Welcome to NSN and a nice post to start with :)

You don't say how you've cropped this, but I think a little more room on the left and a little off the bottom would be better IMHO and perhaps another dose of USM :)

Mind you, there are others far superior to me that you should listen to

Welcome aboard and thanks for posting. A very nice bird. Some sharpening in your photo software would make it pop off the screen more.

Welcome to NatureScapes, Chris. This is a very nice first post. I would like to see the head turned more toward the camera but still very nice as is. :D

Thank you for the warm welcome and valuable feedback. Following are some more shots obtained this past weekend: http://cdcphotos.com/ar/index.htm

Chris:

Welcome aboard, nice first post. When possible try to shoot in an angle where you eliminate justapositions, in this case a lower left angle might have isolated the bird against that gorgeous background.

Chris, Welcome to NSN. Besides what Juan, E.J and Bill said, I might try to get all the bird in the same light. It looks like the bottom half is in shadow.

Welcome, Chris. This is a very nice bird, and you obviously did well approaching your subject. Great job of exposure, too, in this mixed light situation. My suggestions would be the same as the others, particularly trying to reposition and get a background that your subject "pops" out of.
