(Sandhill Crane) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico

[It has been a month since I started this series which WAS intended to be about a month long series of images from my two weeks at Bosque. However, since it is still early morning, I guess I'm going to go longer than that. :D My intent is still to make the images flow as though they all occurred during a single day. Of course, they occurred during the two weeks I was there. :)

This is the 22nd post of the series. The time is now 8:00 am. Post number 21 is in Photo Essays.

This is the first image of an eight image sequence. I still have all eight images even though something is clipped on all eight images. I guess I just like tight. :D This image was cropped about 10% from the left and bottom.

Tripod/Wimberly mounted Nikon D2H, 600mm AFS, ISO 400, Manual, 1/2000 @ F8, SB-80DX, BB, FP. This image was cropped about 10% from the left and bottom.

Tony,

This is cool, coming-at-you. I think since the feathers are already clipped I would crop deeper into the wing - to make it look deliberate. ;)

Bummer about the wingtip but the rest of the image is very strong making up for it. Well done!

Terrific shot! If those wingtips were just there this would be outstanding. These D2H autofucus images are looking really sharp!

I really like seeing the feather definition in the wing spread. I could never seem to catch them with both wings fully extended in this way.

You get them like this by having them bank in front of you. This one turned from coming almost straight at me to turning off to my right in front of me.

I would be tempted to fix that wingtip in photoshop. How does that fit with your photo ethics (assuming you declare the tweak) Tony? Of course, with a zillion photos you cannot spend much time in photoshop. Still, you thought this one was good enough to post...

:D

So would I. However, my photoshop skills are not up to the task yet. However, one of these days... I could, of course, crop it closer to make it look like I meant to do it. Of course, when I was shooting it, I knew I wasn't going to get the whole bird so I get I did mean to. :D
