Scarlet TanagerUpper Texas Coast

F5, 600/4, 25MM extension, SB28 Flash @ - 0.7, Provia 100F

Knowing how cold it is around the country, I thought I'd post this image from last spring, showing some warmth and greenery. This show stopper was making his way down to a drip pond. His silver beak is covered with wild Mulberry juice from feeding on the nearby trees.

Hi Alan. Oh man, is this perfect! Absolutely perfect! I'm warming up nicely just looking at this beauty. Spring's not THAT far away, the days are getting longer... Thanks for bringing spring early this year!

What a striking bird! The color just pops like crazy. I like the leaned over pose to add some interest. Well done.

Sweet shot. This would be a great candidate for this week's Motif. ;)

These tanagers are so saturated that it is unbelievable. What a feat for our eyes. Another winner my friend.

Ah! The elusive 'Mulberry-faced' Scarlet Tanager. Nice capture against a great BG. Great as always, Alan.

:D :D :D I can remember when it was near impossible to capture reds with some films. Digital does not appear to have that problem.

A gorgeous shot with a fantastic background. Why is the bill pink? All the ones I've seen have a golden color or is that a reflection of some sort?
