The image is from Little Estero Lagoon yesterday !!! Had a great time with the BCNH and got a couple with crabs This guy and one other with a huge crab !! I found it interesting how they toss the crab to break off the pincers ... on the huge one the bird took it to shore and raised its head then came down beak first piercing the crab !! A treat to watch since they are difficult to approach !!!

Comments welcome and much appreciated

Nice one, but the bird of course is a Yelow-crowned Night Heron. No flash??? That eye looks a bit funky...
best and love, artie

Cool shot and great timing, Alfred. Did you dodge the eye to bring it out? Maybe a little selective contrast on the eye might help it. :)

Great timing and a lovely shot ! :) Here is a brighter version - levels and a bit of fill flash. I have also rotated it a bit.

Great capture, but it's tilted a bit CCW. I notice it since water doesn't really slope downhill unless it's running pretty fast :D . Nifty catch of the crab toss-back, and great light.

Tremendous timing, I agree with Ofer about lightening a Little, something in between your post and the repost.

:D :D

Yes, excellent one, we did have a lot of fun, and they were totally oblivious to our presence, maybe we had so much ambience in us  that we blended righ in :D :D

We need to do this again :P

The lightened image is better, but the vertical lines in the water are distracting. I like the action.

Superb timing Al! If i may, i like the tonality of the original better. Maybe a touch of shadow-highlight to lighten up the neck area.
