(darn)Painted Bunting, Roma, TX

Since E.J. is posting Texas birds I thought I would pull one out for the motif...

Of all the perches we put out for birds to land on, this was the bunting’s chosen spot.

Thanks for looking :)

EOS 1D, EF 600/4 IS, 2xTC, 1/250 @ f11, flash @ -1, rotated and cropped with a small amount of background added in the upper right.

ROFL - we spent hours on perches and perfecting the set-up and then this is where the dumb bird lands. This cracks me up!

Love the bird, hate the perch. ;)
Actually, I would love to have a photo of one of these on any perch.

Cool shot. 8)

No way! This is the foot peg on one of the perch set-ups!

Well, at least you got it later on the rock...all I have is a blurry shot of it on rebar.

Beautiful bird! This one must be for those who think birds don't have a mind of their own.

Stupid bird for landing on the firmest perch :D Perch aside, the bird looks fantastic. It must have killed you to see the bird looking this good in a photo and not be on one of those perches.

Great bird, ugly perch. Fits the motif though.

So you obviously put your perches too high. This bird liked being close to the ground.
