Least Bittern Anahuac NWR, Upper Texas Coast

F5, 600, Sensia 100.

I finally got a decent scanner, so I have been going through some old slides and rescanning. I found this slide, which I shot about 6 years ago. It shows the habitat of this small Bittern, and it shows the breeding plumage with the red lores.

Alan,

This is beautiful. Wonderful breeding plumage and great BG and so different than Wako where I usually see them.

Jim
Enjoy viewing

Great image, Alan. I love habitat shots like this where the habitat really adds to the image instead of distracting.

Beautiful habitat shot...not a typical Murphy background but still on a "perfect perch"! :D (but no flowers..hmmm)

Excellent! My goodness......it looks like you used a natural perch rather than a Murphy special. What's going on with that??? :P

Extremely well done and quite different from the more common Wakodahatchee LB shots.

Alan:

Excellent capture, I know she is supposed to camouflage well, but if we increase contrast a little the bird might be more noticeable to the human eye. (just for display purposes)

He's a handsome devil. I like the inclusion of habitat.

The scan looks very sharp. I do see a bit of blue cast. However, I am viewing this on an MDA terminal which, I'm sure, is not very accurate. Just FYI.
