Hooded Merganser Hen
Gilbert, AZ
There's one female Hoody among the Ring-Necks, Mallards and Wigeons at a local park. She's a bit more timid than the rest but not much! Last light yesterday.

I'd say she's pretty photographable if no TC was used. A nice shot with cool multicolor water.

I think this is a really nice shot of a tough bird to get a shot of but the background is really competing with your subject. It's bright and there's a lot of it.
You could make another layer that underexposes the background, combine it with this layer, then use the brush tool to remove the underexposed subject leaving a darker background and lighter subject that really screams off the page.

Cindy:

Nice capture, I would love a lower angle, but without waders might be impossible, besides it might not be legal to wade on the water of that local park, is the one past the zoo ???

Great posture with the merganser, wonderful play of light on the surface of the water, and the image is nice & crisp with rich color. Lovely, relaxing photo!

Beautiful shot Cindy--I wouldn't change a thing. Love the light on the bird and the water reflection.

Gorgeous image Cindy. The light is unreal. :D I would crop this to a pano taking a tiny bit off the bottom to just above the blue and more off the top. Just my preference. Your crop looks good too. She just glows, doesn't she? 8)
