Canon Mark II 1DS 600 IS Lens 1/500 f 8 ISO 400 BB -1 1/2

This mockingbird has been giving so much grief lately, all my preparation for the set up at the J Bar Ranch is useless (Bird bath, feeders, perches, worms, peanut butter, suet, blind, landscaping etc for nothing). This guy is super territorial and chases away any type of living creature that come close to his territory. He is not afraid of Jays, he scares away cardinals, sparrows, thrashers, quail, one day he drove away a poor feral cat who was eating the peanut butter.

I do not know what to do but when you have sitting hours on a blind only to see this guy ruin your show, sometimes I wish to have a 22 and blast him away. I have it.!!!

I know how you feel Juan. In Roma, they are the same. I had sucess with bringing branches with berries, as none grew down there. He was all over it. I think you did that though. This looks good Juan.

Great shot of a Mocking bird Juan, I have yet to get a good one. At Falcon State Park I had the same problem, but the bird that had my area looked very rough. He had a place on his breast like someone had shot him, he was not very photogenic, but he sure could run the other birds off.

Beautiful shot - I can sympathise with your frustration but least you got something out of it.

I would probably have cropped it a little tighter.

I have been thinking how to distract the mockingbird while I am shooting at the blind, maybe the solution is to play a mockingbird song with aportable CD player a little farther away so he will be interested in the rival male and willl leave me alone.

Nice image, maybe you need two indentical set-ups a 100 yards apart.

This is nice, Juan. Unfortunately, it competes against your 'Mockingbird with berry' shots.
