Wing study (Blue-wing Teal) made in low light near LaCreek National Wildlife Refuge, central South Dakota from a water-level blind in about 5 degrees while wrapped in a sleeping bag. Digital, 500mm L IS + 1.4 + 25mm extension, 1/20 sec. (I think!)

Safe travels everyone, and thanks for all your cooperative, artistic and neighborly contributions to the NSN community. 8)

ADDENDUM: Thanks to woodie for catching the incorrect species---this is a Redhead not a Blue-winged Teal.

That is an awesome picture. However I noticed that this is not the wing of a blue wing teal. I would guess that it is a lesser scaup wing. Just thought I would let you know.

Happy Holidays!

Woodie, good catch! :D Thank you! I dug out the file and see it is a male redhead wing. There were scaup, teal, gadwall, ringnecks, mergansers and mallards there as well. Thanks again for your sharp eye.

Cool shot. You evidently worked very hard to get it. I like the unusual approach!
