I posted this image a long time ago in another forum as a Holiday greeting. I have rescanned and reprocessed it lately (with my newer Nikon 5000 I don't pick up the pepper spots in the provia!) and I don't think ever posted it here. Anyway, it seems it is and will probably forever be my signature image so I might as well :D .

EOS3, 600f4.0, 1.4X, Provia pushed 2 stops, tripod fully extended and snow shoes to get out there and then kneel on to get low enough to the viewfinder!

After a few years of prodding by my wife I finally had this card printed as a holiday greeting card at the store so I thought I'd post it one more time.

Happy Holidays to the NSN family :D

Jim, this is still an incredible image no matter how many times I have seen it. I must be on these forums a bit too long, getting old, or both

This is still the standard by which all other Great Gray images will be judged.

Best, and Happy Holidays back at ya.

Merry Christmas Jim. The story of how you got this shot is about as good as the image itself.

An absolutely magnificent capture that is perfect for holiday greetings! The tiers of falling snow are just incredible and add even more dimension to this image. Happy holidays! :D

Superlatives do not do this justice. All I can say is that this is my all-time favorite avian image. Happy Holidays, Jim.

Regardless of how many times I see this shot, it is still the most memorable shot of or about a bird I have ever seen. Happy holidays to you.

I've said this a few times now, this is the best bird image I have ever seen. I even have it framed and hanging on my wall.

Like fine wine, this one just gets better with age. This is one of the images that inspired me to spend @%$@#$ on lots of photo equipment. Even with all the toys, I'll never produce anything the equal of this image, Mr. Zipp. Bravo!

I've seen this one several times, and it never loses it's impact!

Probably the best Great Grey anywhere.
Makes a great holiday card too...

Jim: I absolutely love the image. I have never seen a Great Gray, let alone photgraph one. The snow & the tree add up to a wonderful scene. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a great holiday season.
