Taken at Point Pelee, last July 29, on the boardwalk at around 8:00AM. Is it a Swamp Sparrow?

My uneducated guess would be Lincoln's Sparrow.

Cute bird, nice catch - they move fast! The shadow across the bird is unfortunate, but not a huge distraction and at least it's not across the head.

Lat, I too believe this is a Linclon's but leave room for a non breeding Swamp Sparrow.

It's a nice shot with good detail.

I vote for young of the year Swamp Sparrow due to the date, the habitat, those rufous wings, and the lack of some field marks I'd expect for a Lincoln's Sparrow.

Cute shot Lat. I am not a sparrow expert so I will yield on that one. ;)

A real little beauty, Lat. I would expect a young Swamp Sparrow on the march boardwalk at Pelee in mid summer.

Thanks all, I will settle for a Juv Swamp Sparrow, especially for the location and time of year.

very nice exposure and detail, very nice indeed!!! Congrats!!8)
I am no sparrow expert either, but it could be Jefferson or an Alexander Hamilton or a John Adams, but a Benjamin Franklin it is not!!!

I agree with the juvenile Swamp Sparrow id. You've got a great shot that I think could be used as an educational tool by Christmas Count compilers. Take this plumage and move along 5 months and you get 99% of the Lincoln's Sparrows reported on Christmas Counts in the northern United States and Canada.

A very nice capture, shadow not distracting, excellent feather detail and pose.

Congratulations

Since I haven't learned the "Little Brown Jobs" (LBJs) I'll leave that to the others. You certainly did a nice job with him and it's a great image to have for ID purposes in the future.
