This GB Heron was taken along the Anhinga Trail very early in the morning. Full frame shot so that the railing blended in and looked more natural. Very tame bird let us approach quite close, even have some closer than this.

D100, 500mm AF-S, ISO 400, Incident Metering (at work and have no #'s), Ev=0, Gitzo 1548, Sidekick on Arca Swiss B1

George,

I really like the composition. The placement of the railing along the bottom edge serves well to anchor the image. The pose is nice as well. I might crop a little off the top but that is more a matter of personal preference than a nit.

Excellent shot!!

Very nice! Nice looking bird and a great BG. For an urban wildlife shot the perch is perfect.

Very, very nice! I love the hunkered down pose but like Bill, would personally like a little off the top.

George,

Well done and the railing helps frame it.

George:

Very flattering picture of these GBH. I would clone out the little popo on the rail.

Beautiful. Some people say these birds are too average to shoot. I say people who say that are too average to see the beauty :) Lovely shot.

Nice light on this, George. I love the BG the GBH is set against. Very 'painterly'.

I like the room you left on top in case it streches it's neck. Looks like nice light too.
