I started working on sparrows this summer and have found them intriguing although I can really get lost with ID of some. In the past week, sparrows have been about all that I could find. I've started to learn more about individual birds and the habitats where they're found so I've gone in search of them. Since I only see these guys in the winter at the feeders when the ground is snow covered, I was pleased to have found locations of them now. I got this guy yesterday on the way home from school. The first year winter birds would come out on the grass to feed but the adults remained at the edge in the weeds. I have nice clean shots of these guys in the winter from my backyard but I really liked getting this guy with the habitat even though some may find it too cluttered. This area was pretty dark so I had to use the flash.

Super pose, and I like the habitat in the foreground a lot. The bg doesn't bother me too much, although a little shift to get the head entirely on the green on the left instead of having the stick intersect it would be nice.

I like it, the fg and bg don't bother me at all. That is where you see WCSP's!

I like it a lot! Nice to see one of these in their habitat. Nice use of flash and I also like the sense of movement in the beak. Well done! :D :D

Nice job getting this gone singing Lana  . I personally prefer a less cluttered BG.

Nice singing pose Lana. I don't mind the bg, that's how you see them out in the woods.

Hi Lana,

Probably pushing the limits of bean bagging on a little singing sparrow as far as shutter speed goes. The habitat is a bit busy but not overly so, very appropriate for this guy.

Great Job!

Getting him singing like this puts this one up a notch. Lovely, I like the environment.

One of my favorite sparrows. Reminds me of winter in San Diego, CA. These guys invade my parent's yard.

Very nice work.

Beautiful Lana. I like the setting and the singing pose is great! Nice job on the flash exposure, looks very natural which I think is the best possible compliment!

Very nice! I don't mind the habitat shot at all. You handled the flash well as it's use is really not obtrusive at all.
