Mew Gull - Anchorage, Alaska
EOS 10D, 500mm

We were standing in the middle of a lake in the center of Anchorage in waders when we photographed these guys early one morning.

Yes, just lovely. I like what I'm guessing is a beaver-hewn perch.

Cheers,

Beautiful. That background is glorious and the color, composition and exposure couldn't be better. I love those red-ringed eyes.

This is really pretty, EJ. We don't get them in breeding plumage here on the pacific coast. Nice to see one without the smudgy head.

The background is so pretty! Nice setting for this guy, the bird absolutely pops. I also like the little bit of foliage at the bottom.

Beautiful - I recognized this one right away from the thumb. :)

You forgot to mention the smell from the swamp gasses that was released with each and every step, and how we slowly sank into the soft mud when standing in one spot too long and had a few wader breaches along the way. :P

Oh, I had forgotten about that. As we were wading through this lake, we were releasing lots of trapped underwater natural gas pockets that really stunk up the place. Initially we thought that Greg just had a bad reaction to breeakfast
