(Western Meadowlark) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico

This year I managed to get a clean shot of a Meadowlark which added nicely to the number of species I got this year.

Window mounted Nikon D2H, 600 AFS VR, TC-17EII, 1020 mm, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/750 @ F8, EV -0.3. Cropped about 5%.

Not an easy bird to get. I like this clean shot. I might go a bit darker.

Very nice Tony!! I still need a good meadowlark shot. Alan mentioned the brightness, and I agree w/ him.

Excellent, Tony. Almost sunny-f16, so the light must have been harsh. Like Alan, I would darken the entire image a bit. Did you do any burning on the bird's body and/or head?

On the body in the yellow, which was down a 0 on one channel in the shadow. I didn't burn the head at all. This was taken 9:15 am so that light should have been that bad (2 hours after sunrise) although you certainly can't call it good light. I did maintain low contrast from the camera instead of bumping it like I usually do, that might be causing it to appear too bright. (Although I like the way it looks on my monitor. Go figure.)

Bosque offered great opportunity of these guys in trees this year -- I too was pleased.
Love the clean perch and BG -- coming in a touch light on my monitor.

I like the perch and at 1st the bird seems light. When I look at the blacks and the white brow it seems spot on. Thanks for sharing it Tony :D
