Photographed last weekend on Texel, Holland.
Unfortunately, the wind was blowing in the wrong direction (towards us), so we couldn't get shots of terns
hoovering in the air facing us before landing, this is the best I could get...

Hey, you got your Mark II! How do you like it? Tested it out right away on flight, I see. Don't you love that AF?

This is a different sort of shot, but it works for me because of the interesting curves, the open bill, and the visible eye. I think it might look nice a bit higher in the frame.

Have fun with that camera!

I agree about a little higher in the frame, btu a beautiful sharp tern. Not at all common.

Bart,

Very nice shot. The wing position and the view of the fanned tail more than make up for him facing away from you. Excellent work.

Bart that is one the nicest butt shots that I have seen !!!!!! :) :) :)

Can only imagine if the wind was from the other direction... as is I like the image very much because of the turned head and open mouth. The fanned tail is just perfect.

Congratulations!!!!

Beatiful image Bart, sharp, with detail, the head turn, open bill, the fan tail.

A rare form for the birds wings and a very expressive bill make this an extremely interesting study.

Well done even though the bird is looking away from you in this shot. The wing position really helps this fact.

Flight shots are not easy. I like it.....you've got a visible head so it doesn't make any difference to me which end is with it.

Even though the bird is flying away, this is a cool shot due to the open bill, wing position, and spread tail.

Bart,
Having spent a lot of time trying to photo these birds at Port Aransas recently (and failed) I can appreciate this image; they are most difficult to achieve. Congrats.
