This is one of several spoonbills that perched in the dead tree for hours facing away from the photogs. But just as the light got better, a few turned around. Later when the light got even better, they started flying away giving me, Alfred, Matthew, Carolyn, and others great opportunities for flight shots. I have some flight shots, but I like this one.

All comments welcome.

Excellent detail and action; might suggest bumping up the exposure a third if you have a RAW file. Might also add some additional sharpening to the eye and neck.

Hey Roy!
Sweet shot! I agree about giving it a bit more exposure, but love the wing position and that look! I might add a tad more USM as well. A very nice shot of a beautiful bird! It was a pleasure to meet you and a blast shooting!

Really a great image. The pose and comp are right on and the detail is there. Looks pretty dark on my monitor too.

Roy:

Since you had plenty of light you may have increased DOF to get the whole branch on focus.

Good suggestions have been made. What a wonderful image. Spoonbills in good light on that perch at Alligator Farm are as good as it gets. Great capture of the wings. Keep it up.....you're doing great with that new camera!!

Lovely wing stretch, Roy. I can add nothing to the above comments about lightness and USM.

That really shows off the marshmallow colours now Roy!! I think it could take a little more USM and a slight boost in Contrast/Saturation now!!

Lovely shot with superb detail. 8) 8) 8) 8) :)
