Hooded Oriole, Roma Texas

Greetings from Texas!

Sorry for the lack of participation here of late but we have been traveling for the last 17 days and still have a few more to go.

This guy showed himself a few times late one afternoon and gave us some limited opportunities to capture a few images of him. This is the only decent shot I got.

It was great seeing and shooting with everyone! :D

EOS 10D, EF 600/4 IS, 1.4TC, 1/200 @ f5.6, ISO 400, ff @ -2

Forgot to mention this is posted from a laptop...hope it looks ok.

Very nice, Greg. Critical focus appears to be on the near wing, leaving the head slightly soft. This NEVER happens when you post from your desktop computer. No one has sharper images than you do.

Thanks Sandy, I honestly could not tell on this hi-res laptop as everything this size looks like a thumbnail. Guess my focus was off and therefore some selective sharpening is the only way to save this one. :(

Still, a very nice image, notwithstanding the (ever so) slightly soft head. Great colors.

The softness of the head is very easily corrected in PS.
Great image.

Greg you blew it, lousy job from the laptop, maybe you should come home and rest your eyes, This ALMOST never happens from the trusty desktop, No one has sharper images than you after EJ and Chas!!! Now live with it!!

Greg,
As others have already commented. I'm disappointed to see the soft head ... Why? Because I have high expectation from you everytime I open one of you posted images

Alex's advice is a good one ...

You're still lucky to have had an op on this guy! I'm jealous! Oh well there's just another reason to go back some time.

Hi Greg, Been wondering where you've been. KK has taken the words from my mouth. Indeed he has. "Come home and rest."

Focus issues aside; I love the habitat in the shot. A little better effort next time, OK?
