Northern Gannet

This was a trip that I will never forget, I met Eric Fisher in Shark Valley, one cold day in late Dec , 2001, It was the first time ever for him in the Everglades, ever since he was a kid he dreamed of coming here, read every book about the Everglades and knew every bird by heart, he was from Germany and spoke better English than me German, Photography was our main topic for a couple of days, two months after returning home, he and his wife invited me to come visit with them , I accepted and went in late June, never ever expecting to see this wonderful Island in the North Sea named Helgoland, A dream come true!!!
He has just invited me to come over again this summer to shoot the Mountain Rams in the Swiss Alps, I pray to the Gods that I can make there sometime this year!!
Oh Boy !!, I want to go so bad that I can taste it!!! 8)
No technicals!!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!

Just to see one of these magnificent creatures in person would be a dream come true. This is a stunningly beautiful image. Hope you can make it too. :)

Michel, you have a good memory. Indeed this was Alex's first post on NPN. It was made for the express purpose of silencing a vicious critic of Alex's humorous and enlightening commentary. It also won the weekly Editor's Pick. In stepping up to help plead Alex's case (I had never met him), the two of us decided to meet in Miami. Of course the rest is misery ... er, history.

Wonderful capture. :D :D

I especially like the upper wing detail.

The blue water behind, the full wing and tail, and the slight head turn... all leading to the landing below.

Alex,

A special moment celebrated with an exceptional photo. Somehow I think you'll make it across the big pond this year and nail those mountain rams.

This has always been one of my favorites. Gorgeous in every way.....and just think......indirectly this bird is responsible for your friendship with Sandy.

Awesome Alex. I remember this as your first post.... Regarding the Alps, I have decided not to comment in light of the Galapagos fiasco.
