While at Bosque there are nearly always bald eagles visable but usually off in the distance. I stopped by one of the viewing decks and photographed some cranes poking holes in the ice in search of food. Then all the ducks went up at once as two adult bald eagles made several passes at them. Then one of them peeled off and headed right over me. I got off a half dozen frames with this being the last one before he didn't fit in the frame. Nice surprise

Nice. I don't think this happens much at Bosque (though the 1.6x by 1.4x must help!). The strong split between the lighted and dark sides of the beak give an edgy feel.

WOW -- at Bosque the only Bald Eagles I saw were no larger than a dust spot. Excellent work handeling the short timing on this one.

Nice Jim

I love it. Someday I'll get me a shot of an eagle.

Very nice Jim, never had one fly towards me at this angle. Seems a mite dark.

Great eagle shot. You created some good luck by being prepared.

What a terrible problem to have; to run out of room in the frame for an eagle. Very nice, Jim.

I can't believe how lucky you are. I don't know who's worse, you or Jimmy G. Excellent work, good thing you were ready for a dark bird.

Isn't it amazing that with all the NSN photographers who have been to Bosque this year an eagle would fly over Raptorman! It must have wanted it's picture published. Nice shot and one we all wish we had gotten!

Just gorgeous. Personally, I think the dark colors make this stand out from the average Bald Eagle image.

:) :) Great capture Jim. Nice angle, they are usually too high in flight to get this sort of on face shot.

Excellent shot. I like the wing position and the blue sky.
