Whimbrel, La Jolla, CA

Another shot posted from my laptop.....

This was taken late this afternoon at La Jolla shores. We were going to head up to Orange County this morning but changed our minds due to the weather. Maybe tomorrow. Things opened up this afternoon and we enjoyed some good light at one of my favorite locations for shore-birds.

The golden reflections from the cliffs almost bring tears to my eyes when I see it through the viewfinder - it's so beautiful and complementary to the godwits and whimbrels, at least I think so...

EOS 10D, EF 600/4 IS, 1.4TC, 1/400 @ f16, ISO 400, sandy pants and wet butt...;)

I've got tears in my eyes too... It's because I have nothing as nice as this. :)

Perfect.

Greg:

Very artistic, the OOF colored background gives a special combination to the supersharp subject. Nicely done. Congratulations.

For as ugly as today was, this is an excellent shot. It was nice to see the weather finally break and let some sun shine through. Glad you took the oportunity to get out there today.

I think this is worth at least a triple bouncy smiling face ;-)

Did you ever get close to the Harlequin?

The late afternoon glow from the cliffs is really something special and you used it very well here. It was good to see you and Heather again. See you in Homer.
