This is the same baby I posted with its mother recently.
Photo taken at Venice Rookery about one hour after sunrise.
Here "baby blue" is crying for his breakfast. In other photos taken that day, he was exercising his wings, preparing for his journey into adult world.

Nikon D2H and 600mm AFS f/4.0 lens. Gitzo 1548 and Wimberley.
ISO 200 f/5.6 and 1/1600.

I positioned myself to the extreme left of the rookery area because I liked the prospects of out-of-focus trees as a backdrop. From most other places at the rookery, especially lower down in the foliage, it is difficult to get clean backgrounds.
Thanks for looking.
Van

Van,

This is a very nice shot with beautiful light and a great background. I like the animated pose with the open bill.

It looks a bit soft at the sholder and could perhaps use a bit more sharpenning...

But, I do love the shot.

Anyone know about how much longer before first flight?

Just a super shot, Van. Great BG. I love the lighting. On my monitor, it appears ever so soft. Maybe a touch more USM.

Interesting image Van. Great job in isolating the little guy against that background. Not always easy/possible to do at VR.
