I was planning on this for my next post, just worked out to be a Motif candidate. I was in the marsh at Jasper-Pulaski where they come in to roost for the night. It was hit and miss getting birds to fly in front of the moon and be decent size.

This was cropped a bit but I could not decide how to lay it out. Should I center it like this or off-center it down a little?

Jeff,

I think this work real well just that way you have it. The open mouth puts this over the top. :)

Only thing I would suggest is that if you have some kind of noise removal software to give that a try. I use Neat Image and for ISO 800 that would really clean up the nosie.

Jeff,
The composition on this is wonderful. If you could clean up the noise just a bit it would be absolutely perfect.

Great image Jeff! :) I would add some canvas to the right but keep the sun off centre.

Forgot to comment about the composition. In my opinion, with the sandhill dead centered, it does not matter where you place the moon in an horizontal composition, the sandhill is dictating the space at the right and left; it is screaming to me: "I want to be centered"! I would make it a vertical leaving even spaces at the right/left of the moon and adding more canvas at the bottom. For the DC forum, I would leave it horizontally, move the sandhill toward the right and top and play with the rest of the negative spaces accordingly.
