Image

The light was poor and this was not sharp due to the slow shutter speed but it was the only nest shot of this family where junior looked straight at me and the parent towered over the chick showing the relative size difference. These birds are very clumsy on land (and at the nest) due to the legs being so far back on the body but were very carefull to avoid stomping their chick. Croped a bit to keep the chick large enough in the web sized image.

This is absolutely adorable, Ken. It puts a big smile on my face. :D
It looks reasonably sharp on this monitor. The DOF was enough to get the chick in focus along with the parent.

Excellent and very cute!!

Ken:

Whoever is in charge of grebe chick design has a real sense of humor. They all look odd, but this one is the oddest. Good catch.

Wow, fantastic interaction image! The patterns on the chick are great, I really like how it's looking at the camera.

Ken, this is awesome. The chick's facial pattern as he looks straight on, makes this for me.

I just love it Ken.
Young is great and looking exactly inside your lens :)
I can see a little movement on legs but it gives more power to pics.

Ken,

Oh My! was the expression that my wife uttered when we saw this last night. We had both watched this family for the few weeks they hung aroud at Bronte Harbour.

The location was the worst IMHO, lighting was always bad and the marina behind the nest did not help at all.

Then you come up with this. TERRIFIC.

regards,

Latafat

Monique, I am packed and ready to go, I may not look like much but I am well behaved and can grow on you like a fungus, with no cure for it!!!
