Subject : Little Egret Egretta garzetta
Location : Wun Yu
Date : Morning, Feb 01, 2004
Technical: EOS 10D, EF300mm f/2.8 L USM, EF2xII TC, Kenko Pro300 1.4x TC, f/11, ISO400, Sidekick, C1LE, PS7, FocalBlade, brightness/contrast/saturation adjusted.
Remarks: I was trying to take picutre of a female plumeous redstart that morning but it was no avail. :( So I get so bored that I began taking photographs of everything nearby. Here is one. The sharpness is unbelieable even with a Kenko TC. Unfortuantely, the image is under and it has been adjusted. (shame :? ) I think there is room for cropping but I am not so sure.

Griffen, I would not crop any more, actually I'd like to see the feet. Good exposure on the bird.

Alan, thanks for your kind words. First, the original was under. :( Second, I would have shown more of the feet but it was standing on a metal fence. Also I was afraid there were too many negative space on the right.

The underexposed is fine in digital, that is what Photo shop is for. Over exposed and details are lost. No problem, just use the histogram to adjust if needed, that is what it is for.
I agree with the feet. This could have been taken with the fence and posted in elements of mankind, or just posted here. Nice white detail, regardless of how you arrived at it.

Griffin, The advantage of an under exposed image is that in most cases that it could enhanced a little bit, I took the liberty of playing around a little with your image, via a contrast mask I brought a little more light on the bird, the BG I liked as is, so I did not touch it, Also it would have been nice to see his feet in frame, otherwise very nice!!
Catchlite is optional!!
Congrats!! 8)

Alex's handiwork improves an already nice image. Love the flowing feathers. I too would have preferred that the feet be included. Thanks for sharing.

The Posting Guidelines allow you to post images with man made perches in this forum. :D

This is an excellent shot.

Great shot, you have captured the plumes very well and with good overall shapness. The quality I can't believe, considering stacked convertors  . I find exposing 1/3 - 2/3 under is better, as I am less likely to blow the whites. Alex has done what I usually do in scenes like these where the subject is bright.

Good capture of the breeding plumage. IMO, I wouldn't crop this anymore than this.

Griffin,
I like it under exposed to retain the white feather details but really miss that feet ...

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I think Alex has done an incredible job here and I really don't readers take their kind efforts in enhancing my post.. I agree I should have brighten it a bit but I was torn between keeping the plumage from correct brightness.

If you really want to see some egret feet, I have another post over "Human Element" forum. :)

Thanks for viewing.
