Horned Grebe
Smithville lake, NW Missouri

This was taken in early November. It was a very windy afternoon, between the grebe diving and disappearing behind wakes it was tough getting a decent shot. The sun was setting fast behind the dam so I knew if I didn't get a good shot soon it would be all over. Less then a minute after this shot, the sun had set (forgot to stick the flash in my vest ).

To make things tougher I was using the 2x so my manual focus skills were put to the test.

Just switched to a new computer, I have used the SpyderPRO but let me know if it looks okay. Thanks

Metering: Evaluative
Exp comp: -2/3
ISO: 200 (should have went to 400 but the sun was setting fast and I didn't think about it )

Excellent capture. Possibly just a touch more USM but generally a very well done piece.

An excellent shot of this beautiful bird. A couple more shots of USM really makes him pop.

A beauty, Chris! The head turn back towards you and the light on that red eye make the image.

Nice one Chris. I really like the way the OOF FG and BG bracket the Grebe. The water color is real nice too.

I think you did great here. If the shots were easy, everyone would get them. :D

Very sweet! Just needs a tad more USM to make it sing.
