WOW. For anyone visiting the US for photo trips this is very pertinent. Do you happen to know if this will happen with each trip, or do they just do it one time only?

For a non-American the issue isn't how many times this would have to be done, it's that it will be done at all to everyone. Are they going to treat every last person who comes across the border with such suspicion? I sure hope not, because a lot of people don't feel good about such measures. I know what the rationale is, but is such a drastic measure necessary or even possible? I greatly admire the USA and have friends there (what better neighbours could we in Canada ever hope to have and what other country has done as much for the world?). Luckily, Canadians and some other countries will be exempt. I'm not trying to start any rants, but just giving a perspective from outside the USA. I'd be very interested in seeing how you all feel about this- it's not good for anyone in the travel sector, I would think.

There are some countries where 20 to 30 minute interrogations by several people designed to trip you up are the norm... This seems like a pretty minor inconvenience by comparison.

I would strip down naked and prance around security if I thought it would make the world a safer place.

Greg,

The commotion of with you prancing around naked would definitely not make things more safe. The stampede would be incredible :)

Cheers

Hey no there is an idea to speed up security but it might have the undesired effect of causing all airlines to go bankrupt.

I'm away for a few hours and now Greg's prancing around airports naked? :? I'd better warn the moderators that there's strange things going on in this thread. Oh Greg!

What great timing - I'm arriving in Cincinnati on the 7th on my way to Montana and am already looking forward to even more waiting around. On the other hand, like the man said, for me it's a small price to pay for a safer place to live in.

Regards

John

Be careful for what you ask for. We're close enough to that. What ever happened to the Sony movie camera that could see through clothes? The security people could sure use that ( and have some grins on the side )

I've had to do that before in three different countries - one in Western Europe, one in the middle east and one right here in the Americas. Its not the end of the world

We, in the U.S., live in a type of Camelot. I am certainly not sure that the screening measures will work. Our perception of the world in skewed, based on what we see or are shown. I think a part of the measures are cya(cover your ass) if something God awful happens. History has show, evil people do evil deeds, without thought for anyone but themselves.
"why did(fill in the blank) happen to those nice folks, it does't seem fair" is a mindset that begs disaster to fall upon us and that thinking is all around.
I can't help but remember countless western movies of my youth where the folks going west could not understand why misfortune befell them and the hero had to ride in and save the day..
People just don't want to believe this is one hell of a mess and we have not even begun to plumb the depths of this. I'm not all doom and gloom but hey vacations over, the coffee is pot's on.
This is weird, while writing this little blurb zone alarm fened off 3 hacker attacks. Tiawan, France, Mexico. Even paranoid people have reson to fret.
thanks for the space to vent. wyndham
