On a whim I decided to sort through last year's pelican shots. This one jumped out at me as being a nice shot, a little different from the usual single bird shots. The whites are on the edge, but in this case I don't think it's a bad thing. I'd like appreciate opinions. Thanks!

Peter, I might work better if you had at least one of the birds not covered by another bird. I'm also wondering if a hard crop down and up to the birds would make it stronger. Nice image.

Peter, just a suggestion as to what could be done with such and image, and by no means the only alternative or possibility, As presented the birds don't flow to the minds eye (mine in this case), But there is always something usable or interesting that can be found within, For the same reasons you liked this image I did as well, I just found the part I liked the best!!

Hope you don't mind me reposting your image!!

Hey, I like the crop, kinda neat! Not easy to photograph multiple birds, but I like the scene Alex pointed out in the image - maybe even more effective for me than the original. Where did you photograph these pelicans?

Heather,
Didn't you see these guys at Dead Creek??
(Just kidding) I took them at Sanibel last January. I'll be doing a repeat this January, but with a more critical eye for framing!

I really like the crop. It brings out more of the detail in each of the birds.

The crop certainly did the trick. Just a touch hot but nice.

Yes, I saw them at DCWMA but never in the water like that! :)

I got several of these at Elk Island last summer, while working on Red-Necked Grebes. (I happened to get a moose at the same spot, too.)

I had the same problems with framing. (And my flight shots were all garbage.) I like the crop in the second version very much.
