(Snow Geese) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico

This is intended to be about a month long series of images from my two weeks at Bosque. My intent is to make the images flow as though they all occured during a single day.
Of course, they occured during the two weeks I was there. :)

This image was taken at one of the crane pools as dawn was breaking. The new camera pulled this off exceptionally. I did do a bit of noise reduction to the image but it really wasn't that bad to begin with.

Tripod mounted Nikon D2H, 600mm AFS, ISO 800, Manual, 13 Secs @ F16, SB-80DX, EV -1.7, BB. Crop to a panorama from the top and slightly from the right.
Tony

Man, was I worried that you have been trampled by some roving flock of Sandhill cranes, or kidnapped by a band of Bandido Snow Geese!!!
Next time you are only allowed one week per trip!!!, the place is not the same without you!!!, Welcome back Tony!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing more, Tony.

What we saw on the laptop was just an appetiser.

Good looking image.

It's so fast I accidentally took over 10,000 images with it in about 12 days. It's now getting a deserved rest so that I can have some time to review the images. I did shoot a number of higher ISO images to see how far I could go but I haven't done a detail analysis yet.
This shot was taken in almost no light and was auto metered. The original noise level looks the same as images shot at the same ISO at 1/1000. So I'm looking forward to doing some long term exposure tests.

As for being back, I'm hoping to start posting again on all the images here in the next day or two. And if you want to see all the series, you'll have to visit some of the other galleries since not all the images are of birds.

Interesting shot Tony. Looks like they held pretty still for you (at least for 13 seconds). I like the pink water but wonder if it could be a tad brighter. Very moody otherwise.

Considering you clicked the shutter about five times for every one time I did, I am interested in seeing the series of what you captured. ;) :P
