This is another bluebird I was able to get this past weekend. This one doesn't have the issue with branches and such in front. His perch of choice also gave me this wonderful mottled brownish-orangish background which is blurred out reeds/willows in the marsh behind my house.

Canon Eos20D + 400mm f/5.6L + 1.4xTC @ f/9, 1/100th, ISO400, 580EX fill at -2/3.

Hopefull your not getting sick of hearing my color analysis, so I'll just barge ahead unless someone stops me!. You nailed it on the compliments here. Cyan blue and Coral red most bring each other out. They are exact compliments. The supporting related colors(90 degrees away from either of the complimentarys on the wheel) are mauve(purple) and lime green. Both these colors are a muted sort of intensity compared to the compliments. Obviously the green would work well in the backroundand seem natural and not purple, but what you have is good for me. I only bring it up FYI and if you can, a little subdued green in there next time might set this of even more. But this is dynamite color usage going on here, and you can clearly see the impact. Truly love that backround texture. Well done chris!

Very Nice Chris. Whites look a little hot on my monitor. Maybe a little less flash?

VERY nice but the whites are a bit hot on my monitor too. Still a quality shot.

Very nice image Chris! Love the colors & great bg. For my tastes, I might tone down the flash a bit.

I'll second the toasty whites....but that sure is a minor nit that should be easy to correct. Now....about that bird, BG, and berries.........oh my, what a gorgeous shot!!

Both the whites and red berries are just a bit hot. I am guessing that happened in post-process and can be corrected. Lovely image, though--I love the pose, great DOF, nice color combos. Well done.

Lovely shot Chris, would cloned out the lower right part of the perch.

Great shot Chris,

only too bad the berries are over the top. Agree on the fill that could have been a bit less.

Cheers

Wonderful shot with awesome colors and sweet BG. :) Maybe just a bit too bright on the white and the berries.

Excellent work Chris. Less fill, as mentioned, wouldbe ideal.

I'm not sure what everyone's (not) seeing in the whites; they don't look blown to me at all. The berries do look like they might have clipped reds in some places, but I didn't measure.

Anyhow, this is a shot I'd be proud to call my own, flash or not. Well done, Chris!
