It could be just my eyes or the monitor I am working from, but to my eyes another touch of USM would help this image just a little. The composition and light are beautiful. I was just thinking, about 5 minutes ago, how I need to work on getting shots of this species. Nice job! :D

Judylynn,

The beautiful light and the eye contact make this an excellent shot. It does look like it could use a little more sharpening.

Hi Judylynn. I love the pose and light but find the noise to be a little much for ISO 200 - was this a large crop? (I thought that a D2X would handle 200 very well) I'm thinking that selectively sharpening the face might make a big improvement.

Basically, ditto. If this is ISO 200, first impression is that it is a considerable crop, due to the noise and the softness. The composition and lighting are good.

I like everything about this - the habitat, position of the bird, light, etc. I would agree it could use a bit more sharpening. Nice job!
