On 4 occassions I have been treated to reddish egrets fishing for prolonged periods of time at Ft DeSoto over the past 3 years. Everything came together this day in June 2004. This is my favorite of all the good ones I got that day.

20D, 600IS, ISO200, f6.3, 1/2000, EV -2/3, fill at -1, full frame.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Jim,

It's a beautiful shot. The light really brings out the great color in the head. I even like what the grasses are adding to the image. Very well done.

Outstanding! Just enough detail in the surroundings to really enhance the image.

Just a fantastic photo. The color and light from the waves on the bird really puts it over the top.
The creamy blue water and sharpness are nice bonuses.

Wonderful shot. Why can't the egrets we have here do that. :) :)

Great light and behavior! Before I ever saw my first Reddish I had seen some pretty nice photos of the feeding stances - had no idea how hard it was to capture. Still don't have a shot I'm thrilled with yet, congrats on getting such a nice one.

Can't get much better than this one. Love the reflected light from the water hitting the bird.

Whoa, absolutely magnificent. :) The red really pops against the muted background. What a pose! Mike Wilson and I shot with you in La Jolla last winter.

This guy must have really liked you as he danced and danced and danced for you. Definitely one of the best that I've seen of him. It would be my favorite, too!!
