Wood Ducks: Love Is In The Air

Get a room! These two lovebirds are getting a head start on the breeding season this afternoon. Looks like there will be a good crop of little woodsters on my creek next spring. They were too close to get both birds full frame.
Nikon D2x, 300 AF-S f4, f8 @ 1/180th, SB-28 DX on Manual 1/2 Power.

What a wonderful behaviorial image. You could try cropping this one with just the heads......might be even more powerful if you're concerned about not having all the ducks in the image.

I agree with Lana that this would be stronger if you cropped in and got rid of most of their bodies. Nice shot Woody! 8)

Thanks for looking. I tried a crop to vertical before I posted this one and it is very nice. I have about seven or eight wood ducks in and out of my creek every day. These two seem to have paired up already. He is still fully in eclipse plumage and she is just beginning to grow her wing feathers back in, but I already have one drake that has just begun to transition back into breeding plumage. Fall will be here before we know it.
