Carolina Wren Houston, TX

D2X, 600, 1.4X, Fill.

One of the things I just love about Wrens, is how they creep around looking into every nook and cranny for insects. The posture and pose I managed to get in this frame, sums up this species for me. From the leg position to the intense stare, these guys are fun to watch. Hope you like it.

Love it, Alan!
Reminds me of a Brown Creeper pose.

Great shot Alan, like how the wren and tree are same shade of brown.

That's an unusual Murphy perch. Bet you had your hands full hauling that around. :D

I like the unusual pose. I've been watching some Bewicks cavort around the yard, but they haven't been very cooperative about being photographed.

Love the position you got him in Alan. I have to ask if this is a set-up? If it is, what did you use for bait?

Wonderful shot of this behavior. Different from most of your other (superb) images (though excellent background as always) -- nice to see something this unique.

We should all show the same intensity with every image that we take! This is spectacular, Alan!

Eleanor, this was a set up for a Woodpecker, and while waiting, this Wren came by. Most yards here have a Carolina Wren in them. If you introduce a new log, they will come check it out, so it's just a matter of waiting. I just got lucky.
