Golden-Fronted Woodpecker (Melanerpes aurifrons)

Another image from the Roma, TX trip with Greg. These guys came to the perches pretty frequently, however we had to resort to Gregs patent-pending techniques to get them to pose for us just they way we wanted; I think we suceeded!

All comments welcome!

Juan you got a great shot here. The cactus wasn't available by the time I got there. Congrats!

Nice shot Juan. The stripe of red on the head really jumps out. Interesting perch too. Like way he's hooked his claw into the flower. lovely diffuse BG as well.

nice one.

All the best, Gearoid

Beautiful. We tried this last year with the flowering prickly pear perch and didn't have any success, glad you were able to get it to work!

Juan, you got lucky! They didn't want to perch on these after you left which is the reason the Prickly Pear wasn't available for Scott - we had given up at that point and wanted to get them perched on something. :)

Great shot!
