David, this is great. It could us e a tweek in curves to brighten it up a bit. I'm seeing a very slight halo around the bird.

Great capture, David. Teriffic flash work, geat pose and perch. Only nit would be slight halo.

David:

Great potential here. Did you use the highlight-shadow recovery tool ? If it is, you can select just the bird and the perch , then apply the effect, it won't result in a halo.

Very nice image David--makes me want to go to these ranches. BTW, I think I met you at Bosque, did one day you run out of compact flash cards on the Marsh Loop when photographing Coyotes??

Yes Steve I was the one that forgot my CF cards at my 5th wheel in Bosque when I met you on the marsh loop.

I don't know what happened to the Caracara image, the converted .tif looks fine, it is whatever I did to save it for the web that created the halo. I thought that I used my normal action to save it for the web, obiviously I did something different.
