Long time no posts in this forum, Sorry, I'll try to better my life in 2005. I hope you like this one from a recent trip to The Gambia. It was in the garden of our hotel on the first night just after sunset.

Cheers

Interesting bird, Peter. I found it fascinating to see the different species of shrike in East Africa and see that they have some of the same physical characteristics as the ones that have developed in North America. Nice shot and thanks for sharing.

Very cool to see a new species--and the pose and background are great on this shot Peter.

Very nice pose and composition. It looks a little flat on my monitor and might benefit from a little more contrast

Cool bird! Great pose and comp! It looks a little flat to me. Perhaps a little more contrast.

Amazingly sharp for 1/40 Peter! Love the pose on this. That bill is pretty cool too. A very nice shot.

Lovely shot, I like the surrounding habitat and composition a lot. Especially well done considering low light.

Thanks all,

indeed it's a bit flat. Could use more work indeed, but my PS skills are really low level. Just no time to learn it. I'll give it a go sometime. At the moment I'm happy having time to convert some of the loads of stuff I've got.

Cheers all.

Peter,
this is an awesome shot...
The background and perch are superb. what I like the most is the bird facing upwards.. very cool. The framing is perfect and exposure is right on.
you must have had a steady support for shooting 1/40 with a 400 and the 1.4 (I'm assuming at f8)
