Great Grey Owl

Shot today near Edmonton. This is the full frame height, cropped only on the left/right. Canon 20D, Sigma 50-500, handheld. The focal length was about 220mm, according to the EXIF.

It would be nice to have a background other than white, but the weather was what it was...

Great detail and comp. what a look. I'm usually not that fond of blown sky backgrounds both in terms of taking them ( I have a lot of trouble with exposure ) and looking at them, but it works good here with the detail in the face. Good one!

The white BG works just fine with this one. I can't believe how close you got to this guy. I'd have given anything to have been there to see this. You sure have a super portrait of a gorgeous owl!!!

Nice closeup. It would have been nice to get a differnet background...Dare I say that maybe a background color tweak in PS would really enhance this shot.

Its definitly better then the shots of owl we didn't get today.
