Last weekend I went to check on the Mandarin duck and it looks like relationship with Mallard hen took quite an interesting turn…
Heavy crop, hot whites. The rest I will leave to you. Critiques always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Love it Marius!! I have seen this coupling before where a Mandarin goes after a Mallard, nobody told him about it. The whites are a little cooked but the behavior makes the tech stuff not matter as much. :D Thanks for posting this.

Great capture Marius !!!! 8) 8) 8)

Did you noticed if both of them did a wing flap afterwards? I watched some ducks (discretely  ) mating last week and they were doing the flapping!!! Found the behavior interesting 8)

Oh boy  . Is it possible for them to have babies, or is he just trying without no chance?

This cracks me up. What an unlikely couple. If it produces offspring, its gonna be wild! Cool shot

It is very likely that they will produce offspring. Hybridization in waterfowl is quite common in the wild. MallardXPintail, Am WigeonXEurasian Wigeon, various Teal crosses. It would be interesting to see the results of this pairing.
