"... he gives his tiny tail a shake

with apologies to Robert Frost
Image
Shot in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti at the Grumeti River and perhaps my favorite specific location in Tanzania. He kept returning to a perch right next to our vehicle. I've more conventional compositions, but I liked the way the he would shake the water off his tail after fishing, and this was the only composition that worked in that circumstance.

1D2, 500 f4 & 1.4 TC, 1/320 & f5.6, ISO 250, flash at -1&2/3.

Rich, I agree that the comp for this works well here. I might remove the blue eye from the flash. Wonderful shot.

Oh COOL! I agree this is a good comp to capture this action. Putting the bird more to the right you'd lose all the water drops. Great with the dark bg to make those drops stand right out.

Rich -- This is really a cool shot. The color is terrific, but I love the water spraying off its tail in all directions most of all. Nicely done.
