"Brewster's Warbler" Upper Texas Coast
D1X, 600/4. SB-28.

Today was my last day to shoot Warblers for the Spring migration, and what a way to go out!

"Brewsters warbler" is a Hybrid between a Golden Winged Warbler and a Blue- Winged Warbler. I never thought in my life time that I would ever get to see one of these, let alone photograph one.

As most birders will know, this is a very rare bird to find.

As you can see, the sun was pretty high, so I used flash to fill in the shadows. This was taken just a few hours ago.

Congratulations on the rare find and the usual fine image.

I like the way you handled the strong light and flash.

I've only seen this species once at Magee Marsh and it was quite a treat. Your image is simply breathtaking Alan!

Alan, You are officially my hero. I was just about to post one of my favorites from today, also my last opportunity to shoot. Mine will definitely pale in comparison. Totally awesome.

Smoking! I know Zipp has a shot of one of these in his backyard... I only wish. You say the light is harsh? I say you're crazy. This is fantastic. The detail in the back is really fantastic. One of your best.

Matthew, I think Zipp's photo is of a "Lawrence's Warbler" The other hybrid. I also have been lucky to shoot one of those as well.

I have to agree with Matthew. Except for the shadow under the bird, you wouldn't be able to tell the sun was high. Awesome flash work.

Typical man......never listens. I said "post me a lousy bird"......I didn't say "post a killer shot of a rare one".
