Peter, I like the nird against the dark blue BG. The bird looks a tad soft and I'm seeing some grain in the BG. Great exposure.

Nice one, Peter. I like the wing position. I agree it looks a little soft an I'm seeing a magenta cast. Both should be easily fixed.

You caught the Ibis in flight nicely! Correcting the color cast and a bit more USM should really show this off to better advantage. Nice shot!

Its a good shot! We forget that film is grainy in blue regardless of ISO in our digital world and a photo that would have been considered grain free a few years ago is now considered grainy - amazing. As others have said, a little USM on just the bird and perhaps a bit of shadow recovery under the shadowed wing could take this one up another notch.

This feels like the bird is flying really really high in the sky!
Very cool shot!

Thanks for the enthusiastic response and help.

Last time I had a soft problem was about this time last year. I went out and found out I needed 2.25 glasses instead of 1.75. Well today I have discoverd I am now 2.75. Yes folks --- the only alternative to getting old is not thinkable.

I got this baby sharpened with a Red Channel Sharpen Edges followed by a USM of 50/0.3/2 while I was navigated up 5 steps to make sure I got no artifacts.

I got rid of the noise by lassoing the bird and feathering 5, then using inverse before applying a gausian blur of 4.6.

I moved the magenta color balance -10%. However, the light was really reddish then so I just did it to show I am not senile yet. I will print this 12 by 18 with the pinkish cast.

Thanks and Best,

Peter

The repost is better. Nailed the exposure and the position in the frame is nice. Love that colorful bill.

The repost is definitely better. I appreciate any flight shots and I like this one....especially since I've only seen them "on the ground".....never in flight.
