Limpkin with apple snail

Nikon F5, Nikkor 500mm f4 AF-S, Nikkor 1.4xTC, SB26 w/ BB, Provia F100
(slide scanned on Epson 2400 flatbed, some sharpness and detail lost)

Probing in swallow water netted several apple snails for this young Limpkin. Normally, not a shy bird, they are relatively easy to approach to within 50-60 feet, sometimes closer. (At least that has been my experience)

George, Nice capture, a slight CCW rotation is in order to bring the horizon to level view, a tad more room on the right would have also been nice, nice action capture and ready meal to boot!! Congrats!! 8)

George, love that you got him with a snail. I wish he had turned his head a bit, and had more room on the right. Nice shot.
