Turkey Gobbler Sunset Canyon (Central Texas)

While reading the paper this morning I looked out and saw three gobblers in the back yard. The ferocious 11 pound Bichon barked at them before I could even think about getting the rig set up.

I looked out this afternoon and they were back. I told the dog not to bark and got set up to shoot.

These guys aren't real bright. They they usually live on the other side of the game fence with the hens but couldn't figure out how to get back across. I guess they didn't think about flying.

The EXIF said I was 55m away and this is about 75% of the full frame.

Looks like they are pushing their luck Jim. Wonder if they'll be back around Thanksgiving?
Good shot, they have some real pretty colors which are shown off well in this image.

That's a fine looking gobler! I've only seen a few turkeys in my back yard and they couldn't fly even if they wanted to, they didn't even have wings!

Jim, you got some great colors on this guy. Not crazy about the fence, but a nice shot.

Jim, a very nice colorful Tom, I know for a fact that they forget they can fly as well, the brain is really a small one compared to the body!!
Wonderful capture!! Congrats!! 8)

In your back yard :!: I guess some would call it great for photos and others may say "let's have a turkey dinner"

Neat shot, you got the colours very well.
