This is great, though I expected that when I opened the post. The depth of field is perfect, something I'm still struggling with when taking this type of image. But my favorite thing about this is the dark fine feathers running along all of the contours of the face. I have not noticed this in other close-ups of eagles that I have seen, they're usually all white. Here, the fine lines give a sense of movement, like the wind is blowing in its face. That really takes this image over the top for me.

Hi Chas, As always, nothing short of perfection. The f16 sure nailed the DOF.

Awesome Chas, hardly a nit but i like it cropped just below the blue in the upper left. To me it helps balance the top and bottom (beak and or bill wise) and squares it up nicely. Killer shot!!

Excellent! Could you explain where you placed the focus point? On the eye, the tip of the bill, somewhere in between? Thanks very much.

I'm blown away by this shot. It is so right in so many ways. It truly stands out from the crowd, and that's saying a LOT around here!

Unbelievable shot Chas! Were you holding a fish in your outstretched hand? (kidding).

But you must have been super close all the same.
