This Common Moorhen was just too colorful to pass up, just don't tell E.J.!
Full height but cropped on the sides to 4x5 format.

I won't tell (because I've got a couple of this guy as well). The exposure on the bird looks real good except for one toe :D . I would try to tone down some of the distracting OOF background highlights.

I got a couple of these guys last year. I like how you got him out of the water and up on a nice perch. You might tone down the highlights in the bg before printing.

I love the start of breeding colors on the legs - in another month their legs will be bright red along the entire sides. Very nice shot!

Wonderful image. The legs are great. I have never seen the red coloration before.

So that's why you were hunkering down so low. Great low-level image and you didn't even get dirty.

Close enough.....it's a bird near water. You did a nice job of getting him out of the water to show those feet and legs. I'd remove the bright spots in the BG.

Alan, I think the catchlight plays an important part of this photo. Nice job.

Alan,

Very nice shot. I like the view of the legs and feet with the bird out of the water.

I see them here in many including nature reserves and urban park! They are quite difficult to photograph as they are black in colour. Check out when they swin. :)

Oh, btw, this is very nicely done!
