The below zero F temps kept me inside this weekend, working on past photos instead of taking new ones. This photo was taken last summer while in a cloud of black flies in the northern Adirondacks. I posted one of this species then but this photo is hopefully a new one. For those seeking boreal birds here in the northeast, this along with the Three-toed woodpecker are the most elusive. This was a Canon 10D capture, 100-400 IS, and fill-flash with Better Beamer, handheld, while bushwacking through the conifer woods.
