Red-tails are typically very hard to approach around here. This youngster allowed me to creep up in the car and shoot from the window while it concentrated on watching the grass for rodents. Darkened BG slightly as it was pure white do to overcast conditions. Cloned some BG branches.

You always get cool birds in cool poses....the BG bugs me on this one...I might try to render a cloudy BG in PS....or at least a bit of color....

Cheers,

Really neat shot, Ken. I love the pose, and quite like the somewhat high key look to it. They are also very wary in these parts. Well done!

Ken:

Such a fine bird may deserved a colored BG in PS.

A totally white BG is always a challenge to make it works ...
But you have done well here, Ken!

Very nice! Great exposure of the bird makes the high key image work.

Ken -

Nice pose on this guy. I like the BG and the curious look he has.
RTs can be very challenging.
Good job!

Beautiful pose and fits the frame nicely. The BG has already been mentioned.

Beautiful shot! I like it as a high-key image and wouldn't change anything! I find these birds to be quite frustrating to photo because they so skittish, but I'll always try anyway. You did really well here.

cheers, Oliver
